Meet Our Founder

Pastor Charles A. Tanner was born on Oct. 9, 1939, in Kemp, Texas to the parentage of Pearley Miles-Tanner and Albert Tanner. He was raised in the church and saved in his early twenties under the leadership of the late Bishop T.L. Ford. He was a well-known evangelist in the Church of God in Christ across the country. His work of teaching and preaching nothing but holiness and righteousness as an evangelist began over 55 years ago in Fresno, Calif. at Fresno Temple Church under the pastoral leadership of the late Bishop H.Y. Rogers.  Charles traveled across the country speaking and evangelizing to many people. Testifying of God goodness and that faith is all you need! His famous quote "Gods got it. I needed. By faith, I'm gonna get it. After I get it. I'll tell the world. God had it. I needed it. By my faith, I already got it!" He blessed and saved many lives throughout his lifetime. Pastor Charles A. Tanner was the founder of four churches, Hope Deliverance Temple #1 of Lubbock, Texas, Hope Deliverance Temple #2 of Amarillo, Texas; Hope Deliverance Temple #3 of Denver, Colo., and Hope Deliverance Temple #4 of Lawton, Okla. He also built the first prayer tower of the Church of God in Christ, the Hallie Sheppard Prayer Tower. He has owned numerous businesses. Including a Music Record  Shop, A Resturant "The Lunch House" and owner of a residential park. Charles vision for Hope Deliverance Temple lives on through his members, family, and friends.
